A Song Awakening:
"We all have songs inside of us and the musical heritage we spring from develops a first verse of sorts.
In 2021, I released a song.
Home Songs
It was a little tune about my childhood.
We moved around a lot, loading and unloading the family piano, packing and unpacking my parents
record player and treasured vinyl.
These were the songs that built me.
It wasn't until after Home Songs was released that I realized I hadn't included one female singer-songwriter in my musical upbringing.
I then set out on an expedition to uncover the
Women's voices that have empowered and inspired me throughout my life."
What started as a re-imagining
of her favorite female cover songs,
led to a deep dive into Divine Feminine studies.
Now Lyndy Butler is taking this research and
sharing it along with her newest collection of
songs and videos on Patreon.
"The Matriarchs - Dolly, Joni, Stevie, Emmylou, Mother Maybelle Carter and many more musical Goddess figures have shaped me like spiritually molded clay. Reflecting on how these songs were there for me at pivotal moments in my life, and through studying my own myths, dreams, and spiritual identity, I've been able to identify my muses and my monsters. The major & minor.
A cosmic feeling beyond joy and sorrow.
A knowing that I am meant to be who I am.
I have found my voice and have taken back my power."
We are all creators.
- The words we say and sing compose the world around us.
We are all listeners.
- Spirit and subconscious are constantly speaking to us.
for We are all songs from a mother who sings.
Can you hear her?
Who are you listening to?
Is it the Heart of Your Own Knowing?
Do you remember the sound of your voice before the world told you to sit down and be quiet?
There are songs waiting for you to set free.
Ancestral melodies buried deep within.
Come let them be heard.
I have been a student of songwriting for over two decades. Gleaning from workshops and song schools hosted by HIT- Songwriting gurus from across the United States. Every time I attend, I am inspired and astounded by the creative mysteries. The wisdom shared in those spaces is sacred to me, but I have also learned that I am the only one who knows how my songs are supposed to be written. It is my knowing that brings them to life. Where does that knowing come from? After studying the archetypal currents that lie beneath western musical history, I have met the vibrating force that is my heart song. I want to help others learn this sacred listening, so they too can hear and awaken the songs of their soul.
As always,
Thank you for listening. Thank you for singing. Thank you for sharing your voices,
your songs and your journey with me.
